The Research Analyst is responsible for external alternative investment manager due diligence, data collection and support of the firm’s research and portfolio management functions. You will lead the research process in the selection, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring of external alternative investment managers. This position reports to the firm’s Chief Investment Officer.
We are headquartered in Miami, FL but operate with a hybrid workplace model. Strong preference is given to qualified candidates in the New York Metropolitan area and surroundings (remote). The position is also open to local candidates (in-person).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Source, research, and monitor external alternative investment managers. Includes drafting research reports on approved managers, providing quarterly reviews on covered managers, and drafting ad-hoc memos when contacting managers or when they experience significant organizational, personnel, and portfolio changes.
Travel to on-site manager meetings to conduct operational due diligence and attend industry conferences.
Assist in the development and maintenance of internal communication materials, including the quarterly market summary, monthly manager review, research review focus topics, and other presentations.
Independently liaise with external managers and service providers to obtain and timely update documentation to meet the firm’s internal due diligence requirements.
Lead the firm’s Research Committee and provide input into the monthly Investment Committee with respect to the various strategy categories’ performances and portfolio positioning.
Maintain and improve the firm’s external asset manager database and ensure the accuracy of the Security Master List.
Assist in validating portfolio valuations, transactions, and any manager-related data requests within the context of the firm’s Valuation Committee.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BA or BS degree required; preferably in Accounting, or a related field of study such as Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics.
FINRA Series 65, or passing the exam within 6 months of employment.
3-5 years of relevant work experience in the investment industry, preferably in an investment allocator or consulting related role.
Detail-oriented, possess excellent problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. This is an ideal position for a network-oriented professional.

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Highest level of integrity, trustworthiness, and ethical standards. Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 tools.
Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CFA and/or CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) a plus.
Experience working in an audit firm with an emphasis on hedge fund/alternative investment auditing.
Experience building and/or utilizing manager databases and research management systems.
