Job Description:
At Regions, the Credit Products Specialized Industries Associate supports Credit Products Specialized Industries Managers in assessing the potential risks of existing and proposed transactions. As a member of the first Line of Defense, the individual will analyze new commercial credit opportunities, underwrite new or renewed credit exposure and manage a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships typically in partnership with a Credit Products Specialized Industries Manager. Based on a risk adjusted return perspective and the Bank's stated risk appetite, this individual will strive to balance credit asset quality goals as well as revenue goals by serving as an independent credit risk expert providing effective challenge to both the Line of Business and Credit Risk. This opportunity supports our Technology and Defense Industries.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare credit approval packages on new and renewed credit products including determination of the appropriate risk rating as well as risk factors that could change the risk rating, analysis of financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, relationship profitability (RAROC), and any other significant risk drivers
Analysis of guarantors as needed to support credit underwriting
Assists Credit Products Specialized Industries Managers with the review of pre-closing loan documents and closing due diligence, or independently, if needed
Actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions
Ensures credit files are complete with all up to date information
Provide tickler implementation and maintenance
Ongoing portfolio monitoring and servicing activities in conjunction with Credit Products support
Validates the appropriate risk rating for a company and proactively identifies risk rating changes
Identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new opportunities within assigned portfolio
Maintains up to date understanding of primary loan market pricing and structuring trends
Participates in research, preparation and execution of customer and prospect calls
Participates in identifying financial solutions that meet the client's needs and the Bank's risk acceptance criteria
Ensures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy, and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/mitigants
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
Minimum three (3) years underwriting and portfolio management experience
Completion of a major corporate credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)
Ability to competently complete credit packages and credit services agreements
Skills and Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage and/or lead multiple projects under pressure
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Recognized for quality of analysis and competency in completion and oversight of client portfolio management activities
Ability to identify and voice issues; self-initiates discussion
Works collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
